for halloween i really wanted to be a gnome. it was inspired by a user picture on craftster...mywitsand4.  i went for more of a lawn gnome but people also called me david the gnome or the gnome in the travelocity commercials.

it was pretty easy...i had the pants, bought the shirt at goodwill, had to buy the boots which ended up being like $23 (however, they paid for themselves because i won the costume contest!) and then i just made the hat and beard out of felt and hot glue.  to add a little more dimension to the beard, i started out with a piece of flat white felt, then took strips of white felt and glued them to pieces of wire. then kind of curled them and glued them onto the flat piece.

I *swear* gnomes are taking over!
I've seen at least three avatars here with them.
Plus untill this year I've *never* seen a gnome costume, and this year I saw three  Shocked (including yours)

But that's so awesome that you won the costume contest!  Grin
The teacher at our school that dressed as one won ours too ^^
(even more proof that they're taking over  Wink )

I gotta say of all the tactics people use to scare kids on Halloween, I think the scariest would be to have a "live garden gnome" just hanging out on the grass! ha ha! Cheesy

Love the costume. Smiley

You're so right!  That would frighten the hell out of me, not in a gruesome texas chainsaw massacre way but in a creepy tim burton's willy wonka way  Cheesy

Haha, this is hilarious.

--Completely unrelated, but where'd you get your boots? I like them! (And I need a pair of warm boots.)
