Rollin' In Her Hoopty! IMG HEAVY

for my (honorary) niece, Roxy!  Her birthday is October 28th, so that's how I named her car.



I got a used Little Tykes Cozy Coupe (which I've been calling "The Houpte") off craigslist, cleaned it and painted it with that Krylon spray paint for plastic (sticking great except for where the driver door rubs the body).

Then I went to town on the upgrades!  I wrapped the steering wheel with pink/black zebra ribbon and added hot pink glitter vinyl, trimmed with lavender, pink and silver rick-rack to the seat and dash board.



I didn't want to leave the seat plain, so I figured out this pattern so it would resemble a custom upholstered seat.



Other features you might notice in the photos (top) are the convex mirror hub caps (you can see in the before photo that the wheels were in terrible shape) and glitter sticker paper stuck to the "instrument panel" and horn (below).



I found out about mid-way through my secret project that Roxy LOVES "driving", so I was extra excited to make this a sweet ride.  And so far I'm told that she loves it!

Thanks everyone!  I don't have kids, so this whole Cozy Coupe thing was new to me when I saw the other projects here... they are the same old color as so many kids' things, but I here that kids LOVE them.  People keep telling me I should sell them, but there is SO much work involved (although I made patterns so next time would be easier) that one would have to charge a couple-few hundred dollars to make it work out.

The Manflesh crafted along with me and made one for his nieces, but both of us forgot to take pictures before we gave the cars to the girls... if I get some of that one, I'll update.

You might notice that she's picking at the ribbon on the steering wheel...  I just hope she doesn't pull a Buddy Elf and eat the dingle balls!

this really makes me hope that when Little Man is getting bigger, that someone will just donate an old kids car like that so I can decorate the  crap out of it for him, lol.
