wow, it's been so long since I made a bag... and this one taught me I need to make them more often -- I made so many mistakes!

Roughly 5 of my female friends are pregnant right now (yay!), so maybe I'll get a little more practice Smiley

(Ugh, sorry for the terrible pics... it was so gloomy and dark today. )

front flap:

under the flap (with zipper pocket):

one side, elastic bottle pocket (the other side looks the same):

inside (velcro pockets on one side, elastic pockets on the other):

and I made a bunch of things to include, too:

close up:

a receiving blanket, a few flannel cloths, a purse organizer filled with baby essentials and moisturizer, a changing pad and a vinyl zipper pouch for used diapers.

Did I miss anything?  Any suggestions for what else to include next time?

What do you think?

(To The Tune of "The Llama Song")Here's a needle, there's a needle, and some yarn between the needles, cast on, knit, purl, always knitting, knitty, knitty, purl.

That is so cute! Especially because diaper bags don't come in those great bright colors. I love the way you put the stripes on the flap!

May you be blessed with inspiration,

thanks so much, everyone!

I really hope my friend likes it... Actually, I started out trying to make the bag guy-friendly, so her husband can use it too -- but I think when I added the hearts, things went a little too far over to the girly side for him Wink

Thanks for reminding me, pjherbert -- I used this tutorial:
to make the purse organizer.  It's a pretty handy organizer, and I was hoping it would make up for the pockets I couldn't squeeze on there. You can never have too many pockets!

Super cute and functional!  You did a fantastic job!  I love the colors, it's the perfect gift.  Thank you for sharing!

If you wanted to add one more thing, I'd suggest a strap with a carabiner, clip, or even snap to make a loop for a binky, or a rattle. But really it is perfect.

This is great - you've even avoided the typical baby colors, which some Moms like!  I think the overall design is different too, not the typical diaper bag!  I love all the gifts inside the gift you're giving, I'd love it!!  Nice work and thanks for sharing!!
