Amigurumi Totoro
«
on:
November 05, 2007 04:03:07 PM »
I made this for my Totoro-loving boyfriend for our anniversary last Saturday. It took me a long time to make, since he is always around and I wanted to keep it a secret. I spent the night before our anniversary locked in the bathroom pretending to have "stomach problems" so I could put on the finishing touches!
I got the pattern for free:
http://heavens-hellcat.livejournal.com/420.html
.
EDIT: Yes, I used Lion Brand Cotton Ease in Lake and Snow, some brown Lily's Cream & Sugar for the nose and claws, 9mm safety eyes and a size F crochet hook. Cotton Ease is just so darn easy to work with (hence the "Ease" I guess).

Oh my....that's so cute and adorable. I am a big fans of Totoro too.
You did a great job!
Are you going to make a family of Totoro? I mean the medium totoro, the small white totoro, and a little black ball thing. (I don't know their English name)
oh and the Cat bus too.

UN-believable! I love Totoro too and this is a great rendition -- I hate to disagree but I don't see eyore at all ... though I am sure that Totoro is big enough to encompass all wonderful things, including the adorable donkey!

floating moon - crochet is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Doing an amigurumi like this usually requires only one type of stitch (this pattern has a couple more thrown in). Why don't you try it out? I recommend starting small and after you've made a few small things, try Totoro. There is so much info available on the internet, including free patterns to get you started. Good luck!

Aweh Totoro ish so cute! Im making him tonight after I finish my second Atashi doll (Chii). How big is your Totoro? I bought a full skien of grey for it, but I dont know how much I'll really need cuz the HellCat pattern (the one you used is the one Im using too) doesnt really say how big it will turn out. Plus, I always use an I-9 hook because the others are far too small for me to work with. You did a great job
Im jealous of your man lol
