Thanks so much for this!
I am making some today, although they are not turning out as nicely as yours did. I decided to do an Americana theme on my tree this year because I didn't want our baby pulling off our nicer ornaments and breaking them.

I got 3 finished. They aren't as pretty as I had hoped, so I added the raffia. Kind of fits the whole Americana theme.  Smiley

woo, i've made two so far! a tip to everyone, they are so much easier if you manage to find the nicer foam balls, the smooth white kind. my first ornament was from the cheap, hard-on-the-hands variety, and it was just a huge pain in the butt. it doesn't cut smoothly, so the fabric doesn't want to stay down in the crevices. i was almost ready to give up, until i tried the smooth ball. the difference was astounding.

here are my two ornaments...the one with the braid over the seams is the cheapo ball, the one without is the nicer ball.

now that i know how easy they are (with the right supplies), i'm gonna get some more fabric and make like 90 more of these! i bet i could sell them at the local grocery store...

I'm dying to make these; they're lovely and look so easy!!  Now just need to find some time to run over the craft store.

I also had the problem with the rough Styrofoam balls.  Unfortunately the craft store I went to today didn't have the nice smooth ones.  Monday will be the day for hunting down the polystyrene balls!  I must make these cute ornaments!

i got mine at hobby lobby, but i also saw them at joann...they're in two-packs, and they're loosely bagged in kind of cloudy plastic, so you'll have to look close. oh, and there's a huge thing printed on the plastic, almost completely covering the package. good luck finding them!

Yeah, I could only find the hard styrofoam kind but I attempted them anyhow:

I'm definitely gonna scavenger for the softer ones to make prettier ones!  Smiley

Thank you! I just showed this to my 8-yo daughter and she was really excited to make these as her christmas presents this year.

I also have a bunch of Hannukah fabric; I made a crazy quilt door wreath for my sister and her husband (who is Jewish) and I was really happy with how it turned out. I bet alternating the fabrics on this project would look great.

I suppose you could do that for any multi-religion family that puts up a tree: ChristmaKwanzaa ornaments? ChristmaRamadan? ChristmaSolstice? ChristmaFestivus?

As our holiday cards say:

"Merry Christmakwanfestisolstukkah... or whatever!"
