OK, so my friend has a B-day this week. We are going to a karaoke restaurant to have dinner on Friday night to sing in our own private room. We will be about 12 people and I want to make little give aways or tote bags for all the guests (I am kind of co-hosting this thing). Not too expensive though...  Shocked It is not really a surprise party, she knows about it, but I was thinking the totes/give aways could be a bit of a surprise for her and the other guests.

Any ideas on what to make/buy to give away? Ideally, it would be related to music or singing in some way. All ideas and inspiration much appreciated. I only have a few days.....! Thanx.

I was thinking you could make mixed cds for the guest and make cute labels for them. This could be very cheep.

Sorry I couldnt help you much...

that's actually a great idea! thank you!

so far I have only come up with decorating the table with confetti that looks like little tunes (do you know what I mean?). and also I am making little candy bags made from bright fabrics and decorated with ribbon, to place by each plate.

You could make centerpiece bowls out of old records.  Here is a link to show you how to make them:

You could fill them with your goody bags.

that is really cool! thank you so much for that idea!

just a tiny question though, doesn't the record give off gases that are toxic...?

finding old used records is really easy and cheap. again, thanks for this idea! Grin

you could always incorporate 50's into the theme

I'm not sure if the melted records give off gases.  I have never tried it but I have seen people do it on tv before.

thank you! these are really good ideas. especially the last link had a great goodie treat that looks like a tune! however, I won't have time to make them but that is an awesome idea. I will remember this for the future, now that sing star and such games are so popular, karaoke parties are really easy to arrange.
thanks guys!

Hey manta and everyone!
The party was a huge hit! I got these helium filled balloons which light up any party, glow-in-the-dark bracelets and like I mentioned earlier, made these little candy bags for everyone. (you can kind of see them below next to the food. but they're opened!)

we (especially my friend the b-day girl and I) sang A LOT! It was great fun. between  the songs we chose there was this one Chinese song playing.really weird and fun!
By the end of the evening the ten guys (!) from the karaoke room next to our came in and did a battle with us and sang 'happy birthday' to my friend! she's single and their guest of honour was this really cute guy so she was really happy! It was a huge success and I can't wait to have more parties like this. they closed at 11 pm and after that we went on to our favorite bar and had mojitoes. thanks everyone for good ideas. I love party planning!!
