So, my cat's name is Chewbacca. It's kind of a long story, but he comes from a family of Star Wars named cats - his mother is TK421, and his siblings are TaunTaun and Wampa (they're all white cats, you see). And Chewie is the kind of cat who will lay on anything soft that happens to be lying around - towels, laundry, homework I'm trying to grade - so I decided he needed a cat bed. Of course, not just any cat bed would do...

So I made the Millennium Falcon!

I made it out of gray fleece with all the detailing made out of a black t-shirt that I appliquéd on with my sewing machine. It's stuffed with a crapton of Polyfil and has snaps on the underside so I can take it out/restuff it/wash it/whatever.

With the wookie himself. I made it pretty large - he's not full grown yet and I have secret hopes that he will someday become one of those giant tom cats.

I think he likes it!

Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it.

Chewie's pretty pleased with it too!

I had to laugh though that with the first pic with Chewbacca, you said you made the bed with the hope that he'll grow into it, only to see him stretched all the way across and then some it in the next picture!  I wish I could stretch out the way they do.

Great cat bed!

Hah - my cats love all soft surfaces too, but they prefer non-bed things to bed-things. Because they have the aura of people and forbiddenness, I think.

This is awesome, though - I didn't realize how big it was until the cat showed up for size.
