This is the chipboard book I've altered as a Christmas present. There are spaces for journalling and the recipient (top secret!) to add their own photos.

My first altered book! Took about 3 days to do, but I'm happy with the result....

The hard part was cleaning up all the dust I made when I sanded the gloss of the pages!

Have you tried liquid sandpaper? It goes on like mod podge and is clear...I used it on a high gloss children's book I altered and it worked like a charm...I got it at Home Depot in the paint section.

You did a lovely job for your first altered book--your recipient is going to be very pleased that you spent so much time making him/her such a special and individualized gift!

I love this idea. Craftster is perfect, I am wandering around thinking about what I should gift my best friend with this Christmas. And what do you know, I find the perfect idea. To bad it won't be as good as yours.  Roll Eyes

I am curious about this liquid sand paper, is it like gesso which adds a layer of grainy sand like substance, or does it dissolve the layer of gloss. Where about in home depot did you find it, you can't as anyone in there for a specific product, just a certain area (like painting or hardware) *must run off to Home Depot, if only it weren't for work*

Hi thanks for the lovely comments! I will have to look for the liquid sandpaper, it was a real hassle sanding the pages.
Feel free to hijack away! That's the best way to learn new things I think! Grin
