geez i love this! and your patch is so cute! i looked at the pattern in the store the other day but couldnt decide if my sewing skills could afford a ten dollar pattern and material. it looks like yours turned out great though. any suggestions for a broke college student who wants to make her own clothes?

Wait for the patterns to go on sale or look for it cheap on-line.  Jo-Ann often has $1.99 pattern sales; just wait for 'em.  Check out thrift stores for fabric or do what I do -- ransack the as-is dep't of Ikea for one-off sheets to cut-up into other things.

Echoing everyone else, I must add also that your coat turned out absolutely gorgeous  Cheesy. I do have one question though:

When you say flannel, do you mean like generic, soft, cotton-y flannel like the kind used to make pajamas? Or is this like a heavier kind of flannel with wool content or something? I've been having trouble envisioning a coat made of flannel though I did check the pattern and it did indeed say that one of the suggested fabrics was flannel...

So I'm just a tad confused here. I'd love to take a stab at making this beauty, but if anyone could resolved my issue here... Huh
