While googling for this project I came across an article on Taoism that dealt specifically with the principle of harmony and change, yin-yang. The author described the principle and went on to discuss how the two are not separate or in conflict, they are actually interdependent and essentially one creates the other.  He says:

That which shrinks must first expand. That which fails must first be strong. That which is cast down must first be raised." Lao Tzu is telling us that life is a process. There is constant change, one thing flowing into another, one thing becoming another. Furthermore, within this constant change is a recognizable cyclical pattern, like the alternating of day and night or the turning of the seasons. For all things there is a natural expansion and contraction, on both the most minute and grandest levels. It is the breathing pattern of life itself.

That idea of change leading to harmonious balance stuck with me. I started looking for pictures to use but all I kept coming up with were opposites. I got frustrated and figured Id put the project out of my mind for a while with the help of my trusty friend, shopping. I hopped on over to threadless.com to browse through their catalog and I found a t-shirt called H2Os Sacrifice by Ryan Lin (pictured at the bottom).

It had everything I was looking for! Life, death, night, day, nature, harmony, balance, rebirth. It was just perfect.

So, without further ado, here is my entry:

Like OMG where do I vote?

They turned out really good, I like the yellow on blue better I think. I like the color ratio.

Hey Fiber People: I am very interested in personal swaps for painted/dyed roving or top. I can swap supplies or crafted items. Let's talk!

It looks fabulous! The first thing that popped into my head upon seeing that picture was that it would make a really awesome tattoo. Great job!

That's wonderful! You found the PERFECT picture for this. I do believe I'm going to steal that picture and come up with something of my own to make with it. Wonderful job.

Power is strength and the ability to see yourself through your own eyes and not through the eyes of another. It is being able to place a circle of power at your own feet and not take power from someone else's circle.
