This is my first foray at making an advent calendar. I have three children, so I would like to fill it with child-friendly things. I am thinking mini cookie cutters, little cute soaps, ornaments that my 7 year old and I can make, but I just can't think of anything else.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Mini tree ornaments???
We always set aside an ornament a day from when we put up the tree...

Thanks Selkie! - I really want to make some ornaments with my 7 year old - that we can reuse every year for the calendar.

~Small toys, like dinosaurs or farm animals.
~Balloons with pictures on them.
~The little cute bubble baths in plastic shapes.
~Chocolates or lolliepops.
~Fun junk jewelery - even boys like cords with something cute on it for a necklace.

I forgot to add stickers and fridge magnets. They can be store bought or home made.

I'm glad that you posted this because I'm right in the middle of making a calendar and have been trying to think of things I can put inside.

crayons, finger puppets, little notes (maybe updates from Santa?)

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I can't wait to get started on this - I designed the calendar right after my two babies fell asleep at nap time and I plan on starting it right after my wool felt arrives.

i just thought of some more.  You can make a tic tac toe game using an altoid tin and magnets. It would be perfect for in the car.                                 You can also make up little craft ornament kits so they can make there own ornaments. You could put in fun foam stuff and glitter and all kinds of stuff.
