This is my third attempt to manipulate that wonderful medium called Speedycut!

I looked at a photograph and sketched it with pencil, then I carved using Speedball cutting tools. The finished stamp makes a print that I was so happy with I was actually dancing!

The scratches on the shell were actually intentional, because mighty sea turtles do see their share of shell-wear in a lifetime, but in retrospect I probably would have preferred the print without them. Still, I'm mighty happy.

Avian, it's one of the simpler crafts I've picked up recently. The Speedycut sheets (about the size of a postcard) are $3.99/ea - larger ones $8.99. The tool I picked up for about $12.00 (with several tips I can change out). The brayer (roller) for inking was a few bucks, too. The Speedball ink set was a little more pricey, but will last me a long time. I got one with white, black, gold and the primary colors so I can make any shade or color I want.
I prefer to sketch onto the block and carve my drawing, but there are plenty of ways to trace something and transfer it, too.
The medium is really easy to cut, like butter, not like wood or linoleum.
Give it a shot! I know Speedball sells starter kits, too.

That's really pretty! I played around with this stuff but never made anything that complicated. It's a beautiful stamp.
