So, I absolutely love the look of woven scarves! What equipment would I purchase that's good for beginners but helps make projects as large as scarves? Also, is it possible to purchase from a local store such as Hobby Lobby?

I don't have the link in front of me, but there are a few places on the web with directions on building a rigid heddle loom.

I have a couple books for weaving without a loom (search amazon).

there are knitter's looms available as well as frame looms made with scrap wood and finishing nails.  As long as you can put on a warp and then weave your weft, you can weave anything you want.
