I love everyones poppets and punkins! So cute and creative! I noticed a lot of people make these for their kids and was wondering how they wash up? I don't know much about alova, mole, etc.

I dont know that I have ever washed a poppet, She says knocking on wood because she know her kid will spill all over one now. But I have surface washed one. I pack the stuffing pretty tight into most of my poppets so I dont know how well they would dry, And there is the problem with all the hair that is usually yarn. But they are pretty resiliant, I have fixed neck issues and limbs issues and my daughter takes them everywhere and they have lasted.

I made one out of fleece (fleece strips for hair) for my daughter and didn't stuff it hard (not necessary with fleece), it washed like any other fleece stuffy.

I don't see that it would be a big problem. I'd put the doll head first in a thin sock, or in the toe of knee highs. That's keep the yarn hair from going crazy. Maybe let her air dry or something, might be better for the plastic eyes.

Why is it, whenever I want to make a poppet/punkin, I forget where I put the stupid jointing needle? Has anybody seen it?

Never fails either I put all my poppet stuff together and leave it all in a box and then some how when I go to get something out of it for poppeting it isnt there. We have Trailer Trolls that come out when we are not here and take things I swear. It wouldnt be so bad if they just told us they took it. it is the constant looking for something.

I couldn't find the tiny screw driver for replacing the needle in my machine today. Ridiculous. I am usually so organized but moving has thrown me totally for a loop!
Good luck locating your supplies girls, lol!

I had to wash one as my dog stole it and slobbered it. I put her in a pillowcase and washed on gentle. I also dried her in the drier. This was after she had eyelashes and painted eyes.
I didn't put anything else in the washer and added a towel to the drier.

Good luck to everyone on finding their supplies! I have furry goblins I call "cats" that knock my craft supplies all over the house. Especially the small supplies I need right away to finish a project. Roll Eyes

I finally took pictures of my poppet!

Seren is completely hand sewn, which is why she took me so long to finish. Tongue

She is a star polishing fairy (I made up a whole back story for her), and I even made a pair of goggles for her (eye protection is very important when polishing stars!).
Thanks so much for this awesome pattern, ghilie! I've never sewn anything this complex looking before. Smiley

LOL, CB, I don't think I really lose things (cept my sanity and that was lost years ago),they just take meandering journeys to goodness knows where. Probably to be in a fantasy land that doesn't have a grumpy old lady saying "Now where the heck did you disappear to this time." (Well that is the polite version).
