You just can't get back the time you put back into them. I have sold to friends but it basically only covers the cost of materials ($15). I only do this because I enjoy creating them, but unless I sold them for $70 each ($5 per hour plus materials) I won't make my time back. If I cover the cost of materials then I still get to create little interesting characters and pass them onto families that enjoy, I am happy, as long as I don't do it too often. Hope that makes sense Grin

I sold two 1/2 size poppets to my great aunt. I charged 75.00 total but if I did it again they would be closer to 90.00. I feel 75.00 is fair for a full size since they are so big and there's so much had sewing involved. Smiley

Best to figure up cost of supplies and what you feel is fair to make per hour. and there's your cost. figure in thread and such as if you have to buy new for each doll. otherwise when you need it, you'll be taking money out of what you're making rather than have it set aside. Smiley

I dont want to sell or be a Crafting Whore like my husbands jokingly calls it, He just wanted me to find out what people think. I keep telling him it isnt worth the time and effort to sell them for pennies but He wanted me to ask so I did. Good wife and all.  Roll Eyes

On principal, as the pattern is not ours, I would not sell a poppet ever. I would give one away, but never sell. If you make another doll that is significantly altered from the poppet, such as another craftster, then go ahead and sell, as you have made the modifications. Making something based on the tools and tricks you have learned poppeting would be OK.

I don't mind if people sell them, as long as no one sells the pattern.  I have heard of people selling patterns that they got off free websites.

I know, but that is just beyond 'not acceptable'. My poppets are for fun and adventure only. Cool
