I got my pattern yesterday... AND...

YAY! I know she doesn't have any eyes, but I don't mind. And she's naked so far X:. She's made out of an old fleece blanket and some yarn my boyf got me last weekend. Aw. This pattern is literally idiot proof! Ridiculously easy, even though I've never done hair or done joints. HOORAH! PS I have no idea for a name :/

Great job punker chic  she is so cute. I have problems with naming mine as well.

I had trouble with placing my hair for the first doll so I cut the yarn and layed it between two strips of freezer paper and then ripped the paper away afterward.  I like crocheting the wigs better.

So I am done almost done one bunny with one to go before easter. The second is cut out and sewed but not stuffed.

Does anyone have trouble with the leg joints I get them on but cant get them tight like the arm joints and I dont know if this is normal of if I am not doing it right. The arms stay where ever you pose them but the legs always drop.

Also just wondering where Ghirlie got the pattern to begin with? Did she make it or find it? Is there a story behind them Just wondering.

Ghilie made the pattern and was gracious enough to share it with the world!  Grin

I too sometimes have issues with the legs not getting tight enough. I recommend having an extra set of hands to help with the leg jointing. You pull tight floss while other person pinches legs together. It really helps!

I believe that Ghilie said once that the poppet pattern is very loosely based on the Neko(sp?) pattern on another site with a lot of free doll patterns. I think she also took a doll making class and put all of that knowledge together to come up with the first poppet. Since then she has revised and perfected the pattern.

As for the leg joints, you REALLY have to use muscle to get them tight enough. By the time I'm through pulling my fingers are sore and it looks like she has no hips at all. Once everything settles and the cotton inside reshapes then she looks like her normal hip-tastic self again.

I sometimes have to redo the leg joint as well.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but at least it's easy to do over.

For those wondering - I made a nekomimi off runo's doll making site but I didn't like how the pattern turned out.  So I changed a bunch of things and then someone asked for a tute.  (of course someone asked for a tute!  It's craftster!)  So I made one, but I really had no idea it would take off like it did.

Also, I made the rabbit poppet for teapotdnky, for a swap.

And we all love you for that Ghilie. I think poppets are the bestest, most versatile, cutest, cuddliest, and most beautiful things that are on craftster, truly. Your brainchild has made many people very happy, and that's really amazing.
