flippers?
i heart being random!!! Smiley Smiley Smiley Cheesy Cheesy Grin Cheesy Wink

For some reason, your flippers comment made me think I was on the other board where craftewoman was discussing legs or no legs on her dragon.....It made perfect sense to me.  Then I read this and realize that my brain has been working overtime again Roll Eyes

That should teach me to check all my post replies at one time, but I know it won't!

I thought the one she posted was that lovely girl! think I'll try to make her this weekend Grin Eliea.....on the beautimus poppet you sent in the poppet swap...(love her!)  how did you make the mouth?  was it embroidered?
I mixed fabric and acrylic paints on a cd and painted it on with a toothpick. (the tiny pointy end. I didn't have quite the right colors so I had to mix my bright red with black to get the red color and I then used the black to define between the lips. Smiley
I'm glad you liked it! I used to have the worst trouble drawing lips and A kind librarian gave me a tip on it. I always used to draw them in 2 pieces and she said it's actually 3. I've never had an issue since. Smiley
I managed to take some pictures of her before my camera decided to die so I'll try to crop a closeup picture for you if you'd like?

I've almost completed this gal's clothes and props.  I'm waiting till then to post her but I thought I would post an old pic of her before I put her arms and legs on.

Since then I've also fixed the tilt to her head and trimmed her hair a bit.

Ok just to clarify the paint didn't bleed the fabric is just very fuzzy:

So the area that looks sort of "bleedy" is really where the fuzz stuck in the paint. lol but I hope that helps some!
They're not perfect but they're also blown up pretty big in this picture. they were only about 1/2 inch in length.

I'm not sure about recoloring safety eyes...I haven't heard of that as of yet...but newbie doll maker here...but I do have those glass marbles that are flat on one side that I've made into eyes that I want to try as eyes for poppets....you could try that?  They're relatively inexpensive (with a coupon Wink) and use paint pens.

I've recolored a few sets of safety eyes by sanding the color off of the back with an emery board, then adding color in different ways..  Sharpies work well, but will fade if exposed to rubbing alcohol.  Acrylic paint is fun, and details can be added by painting with a toothpick, but I recommend sealing it with Mod Podge or clear nail polish.  My favorite set of eyes were colored with layers of nailpolish, nice with little flecks of gold.  I don't know if that helps any,  Undecided So far, they have held up to playtime.
