First of all a big thank you to ghilie for sending me her marvellous poppet pattern.  It was with great trepidation that I decided to attempt something that looked so marvellous and therefore so challenging.
So far everything is going according to plan.  That is because ghilie's pattern and instructions are super awesome and easy to follow.

This lovely lady is for my daughter who has asked if I could pretty, pretty please make her a mermaid doll?  Here goes.
Stage one: head on a stick.  I added some blue and green ribbon and some beads to her hair as I didn't think there was enough contrast between her hair and her skin (which is made of the only fabric I had on hand.)

Ignore the bridge of her nose, it looks like a hole, but its not and I have fixed it.

Lovely head on a stick.  Pale girls with pale hair often end up looking very ethereal, which is good for a mermaid.  The beads in her hair are a nice touch.

Proudly announcing the birth of two baby poppets.

http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=200902&size=big&cat=

Thanks atsuko for the pattern.  Hope you don't mind, I was a little intimidated by the size of the original pattern so I enlarged it a little.  These were so much fun to make.  Four more to go before Christmas.

Aw!! Great job!!!  I am slaving away at the daddies for them now.  ACK!  Thankfully Craftewoman has some amazing clothes patterns.  Thanks for that!!!

I love the idea of a mermaid.  She's gonna be pretty!!

bellalupina- I swear the picture with the tummy tatts looks like a butt. I know I'm nuts I'm fighting a cold still... Wink

mieljolie - I like the color of the fabric. If your mom had used very tiny stitches on the machine it might have been ok to machine sew. Just a thought for next time. And you could even stitch another seam a bit inside the first for extra re-reinforcement.

spectrumsparksie- She is going to look great! I can't wait to see her done!

jerkie - baby poppets are adorable! I really like the blue one from some reason!

The baby and pixie poppets are killing me with cuteness! I'm also pretty much in love with the style the mermaid poppet head on a stick has going on. She's lovely!

Haha. Well I think I sewed it right but it was late at night...but even poppets with front butts need love too. Tongue
