using craft foam sheets for shoes is a terrific idea i think. you could glue on a separate piece for the heel, they are flexible, and that would be way less expensive than using polymer clay. Way! you could glue layers together for platform shoes too.

I just finished poppet #18!
I can't post him yet though as he is part of a personal swap! I made him shoes from felt. It worked out great!

Wow, thanks for all the input, everyone!

I'm comfortable with clay, usually, and I've been especially curious about the bendy clay and eraser clay, what their textures are like before and after baking, ease of working, etc. I might try using it for shoes just to see what happens.

Fun foam is a good idea, but I was hoping for a more rubbery result... though depending on the difficulty/ annoyingness of other mediums, I may change my mind about that. :-)

I need a mom to help me out. My baby sis is in love with the little pink fairy girl on elmo? She has puffy pink hair in ponytails that look like pom poms. I need to know her name so I can find some pics to make her Christmas poppet to look sort of similar.

I sew, paint unfinished wood, sketch, make jewelry, crochet a bit, loom knit, and sew. Pretty much if I can get my hands on it to learn, then I will know it. Maybe not perfectly, but enough for a hobby.

Thanks you all wise moms of craftster! I knew it was something simple like that but could not remember for anything today!
My sis just loves her right now so her Christmas poppet is going to be Abi. Smiley I think I even have the perfect yarn for it! Smiley
