Thanks for the compliments everyone! She is my favorite so far!
I added this to azul's post but figured I'd put it here to so it would show up if someone searches the thread:Crocheted Hair Cap Pattern:Supplies:
Bernat Softee Chunky yarn
2 stitch markers or pieces of scrap yarn to mark withNote:
Parts of this pattern are worked in the round. And part of it is worked back and forth. If you have never worked in the round before there are two ways to start.Magic loop (my favorite)Or chain
To start you will need to do one of these methods then follow directions below:Round 1:
6 single Crochet (in loop or second chain from hook)
Join with slip stitch to first sc. (6 sc)round 2:
Chain 1, 2 Half Double crochet in next Stitch, Chain 1, Repeat around, join with a Slip stitch to chain from beginning of round. (12 hdc, 6 chn)
Chain 1 (mark this stitch), Double Crochet in next 2 Half Double Crochet, Double Crochet in Chain, Repeat around to 12 Stitch (mark this stitch), Slip stitch into next stitch. (12 dc)Note:
You will now work a row back and forth instead of in the round. This row may not sound like it makes sense but it helps shape the cap and add the ear holes. I promise if you just do it, it will make sense once the row is completed.Row 1:
Turn work, Half Double Crochet in next Stitch. Half Double Crochet and Double Crochet in next stitch, Double Crochet and Treble Crochet in next Stitch, 2 Treble Crochet in next Stitch, Single Crochet in next 6 Stitches, 2 Treble Crochet in next Stitch, Treble Crochet and Double Crochet in next Stitch, Double Crochet and Half Double Crochet in next Stitch, Half Double Crochet in last stitch.
Slip stitch in un-worked stitches between stitch markers. Join stitch at stitch marker.
Single Crochet in next 15 Stitches, Chain 8, Skip next 7 Single Crochet, Slip Stitch in next (8th) Single Croceht, Single Crochet in next 2 Single Crochet, Chain 8, Skip next 7 stitches, Slip stitch in next (8th) stitch, Single Crochet in next 3 Stitches.finishing:
Slip stitch in all stitches around cap and fasten off at center bottom of cap.
I'm not sure how much sense the last row made, so if it's really weird and doesn't make sense I'll try to make another and take pictures. Now you simply attach strips of yarn as you would fringe to a scarf. I started at the front and worked my way around the first row, then the next and so forth. I highly recomend you pay attention to which direction is the front and insert your hook the same way each time or it will make your dolls part look funny in ponytails.
For pictures I recomend you check out tattfae's poppet as she has a picture.
I wrapped my yarn around a book about a zillion times then cut one side to make all the pieces relatively even.
At some point I'll try to make another wig for a poppet and take detailed pictures of it. I just got a tripod for my digital camera so I can finally do that!
