Here is my new little girl.  She is staring out the window hoping the snow will melt so she can play in the grass.

Her shirt is borrowed from one of my daughters Groovy girls.  But the skirt is made by me and the bag is made by my dd.

I beleive her name to be Bergundy but my dd thinks that she is truely a secret princess and has a way more sophisticated name.

I still don't have any scraps for the inside of her ears. =( But I can't wait till she's finished either! ^^
you don't have to use scraps...her ears can match with her face Cheesy
but you could use felt-patterned or plain!! I know i'm in love with my snowflake felt!!

the princess is gorgeous!! I think her name is Princess Firebird (because of her pretty hair)
bergundy could be her everyday name  Cheesy

I want to make four Poppets for all four seasons after my first one. =) That'll be my goal for this year. ^^ I have some felt too, but it's black, dark red, dark brown, ugly pinks, and white. I might be able to work with the pinks and brown though. It IS my first Poppet. And it may turn out crappy. x)

Daria's eyes are painted.  I painted a layer of white first using a fabric paint and then used just used acrylic artist gouache over the white.  I used metalic silver mixed with black to get a sooty/smokey eyeshadow, and added some highlights to the eyeshadow with sliver.

I have never seen a cartoon with a character call Daria in it.

It was on MTV.  Here's a link if you want to read about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daria

i just used the wrong side of the fabric i made her body out of. it's only slightly different while still matching.

I decided I'm going to use the dark brown felt. It'll match her hair... I don't know if that's a good or a bad thing? Or maybe I will just use the other side of the fabric, though I don't like the other side. =3 I'll figure it out when I get that far.

My newest girl is almost done!  I will definitely have to get the machine serviced before doing another one, though--some of those stitches are not so good.  I used the pink/red eyes that MK sent, and they look so good!  I can't wait to show her off!

In other news, I went to Joann's today and searched all over for the freckled suede, but no luck.  Cry  I made hubby search with me, after showing him a picture of what it was!   Cheesy  He was a good sport, and is even now building a shelf that all my finished poppets can live on...
