Adventures in Poppeting...

Had to share a couple of things--last night, I told hubby I was making a dolly--he just sort of grunted in that man way, right?  So I get one leg all done and show it to him, hoping he will share in my excitement( Roll Eyes ).  He looked at it for a minute, then said, "So...are you making a duck?"   Cheesy

Then, I was making the tail.  Now, I haven't read all the pages here, I'm only on about 70, but I had the thought--why not do the tail the same way as the legs/arms?  You know, sewing the two pieces together, and then turning them right side out?  Surely it would be easier, right?  Uh huh.  45 minutes and many creative swearwords later, I figured out why it isn't done that way--that thing is a bugger to try and turn rightside out!!   Cheesy  Oh well, live and learn, right?

Morelove what a pretty unicorn. I decided to do one more cat one because I bought this pretty panne fabric (really stretchy velvet) and I didn't feel like ironing on the interfacing to stablize it. I want to get straight to the poppet. So I used my Alova suede first! But it is different cause it has rainbow sparkles on it. I love it. Alova suede is so much better to work with than that moleskin suede, but the moleskin suede is so soft! But if I get this one done today I will be starting my unicorn too! I like how you did the toes!

BTW I love all the avitar changes! It is so fun to see who's creator is saying what!

The easy way... get a straw and shove it in the inside out tail.  Now get a long skinny stick... the blunt end of a long needle works okay.  now push the end of the fabric through the straw and just keep pushing until it comes out the other end.  Voila.  45 minutes becomes 45 seconds.

I need some advise. Although there is no gurantee I will take it.. Wink
I made another poppet but I am stumped on hair. She is brown with rainbow sparkles everywhere. I can't decided what color hair to do. Magenta, Blue or Green. Those are the choices. They are all jewel toned. Here she is!

Trying to get the sparkles

Sorry about the pics I don't feeling like making the back ground looking nice!

I love a brown and blue combo.

Nice job on the eyelids, you should find some false eyelashes in whatever color you have for her hair.  I had a set of false eyelashes for halloween once that were red, black and silver.  They were all sparkly.

Undecided I've been working on my house for the past bit  because the heater went out (hooray for fireplaces!) and so wanted to reply to those asking me about the fabric I had in hand.

If I remember correctly it was about 1/4 a yard, and I put it back down. Silly me because some one came over not two min after as I was walking back over thinking....perhaps I could do a smaller one first.....and she bought it. Oh well

Now back to look at all the pages I missed!

The winter mouse is sooo cute!
Unicorn! Fun idea.

and...I'm not going to be able to stay out of the Joann's on my way out to pick up a few last min things later. So perhaps....I can start my poppet this next week.

You should do a combo of all three with some white or silver as contrast. Magenta/Blue/Green streaks in white hair would look gorgeous! XD

I was thinking that too but with gold since some of her sparkles are gold
