I am almost done with my poppet. As in her face is drying (I painted it) and then attach her hair and then out the door. (Merry christmas great grandma!)
This has been the most fun project I've done in a while. And it's been easy. yes I said EASY!! Now it could be those years of costuming that are speaking, but I don't think so. Maybe watching this little person come together is what makes it worth any trouble.
I'm really excited too, I've been wanting to make a jointed waldorf style doll for a while and have been unable to figure our how the heck I'd attach those limbs. All the instructions I've seen just said 'use a button' but no one has ever said 'use a SHANK button." I get it, and I will be conquering it soon!!

Thanks for the pattern!

I'm tea dying my fabric right now and my little poppets will be popping out in no time! (Yes. I'm making a set of four for my first project.)

I just hope that my fabric is a little more brown than pink.  Undecided I bought about 3 yards of this nice heavy baby pink fabric a long time ago and it would be perfect for this doll. The problem is that i don't know if I bleached it enough before setting it to dye.

ah well. Only time will tell. Plus, it'll add character!

I ordered a few supplies (buttons, needles, polymer clay) from Joann.com, and found some beautiful deep red fabric (a thick, not-too-stretchy knit) in my mom's scrap box, which happened to perfectly match some thread I have.  It's meant to be!  Grin

Anyway, I got started working on what parts of the project I can do (i.e. the sewing).  I got the first leg sewn and started on the toes when my thread started getting caught on the hook.  The manual says to clean and lubricate the bobbin case, but I can't find any sewing machine oil.  Grrr.  I was really looking forward to working on him.  Angry
