Yes, be very VERY careful picking out fabric! Otherwise it can be a nightmare. I bought some stretchy suede feeling stuff at Walmart.. kind of like ultra suede.
Well it frayed like crazy, even after an entire bottle of fray-check, and when I inserted the eyes and attempted needle sculpting the fabric developed long "runs" just like pantyhose!  Angry

I just finished a poppet for my little niece! It took me about three days, and I actually put clay in her nose - something I didn't do with Kella. Since my niece is Chinese, I gave her poppet a Chinese name, Mei. (She's 2.5 years old, so I don't think she'll mind my naming her.) All she needs now is some clothes of her own - Kella's dresses are a little too big - and she can go "home" to her girl. Yay poppets!

inez - Mei is very sweet and born in May! That little girl is going to have so much fun with her. I think Kella's  already had her viewing but she is still cute. You are turning into a poppet making machine. so fun.

I'm stuffing Teeny #2 as I type! Her name is Iris, and she is going to be a gift for someone. She's going to have clothes though so I'll post her when she is done!

I used one panel of a tan two panel set and got about 5 poppets out of it, might manage another. Measurements on the package are for the 80' x 63 curtains. I spent about 15 dollars. With a seam ripper you can open the side seams and even the tabs at the top to winkle more fabric out of it. They seem fairly cost friendly, there is a small amount of fray, but not horrendous, omg, it's gonna fall apart. I like that it's fairly firm when stuffed and I get a good "sharp" nose with it.
thanks! 15.00 divided in half would be 7.50 (cost of one panel) divided by 5 is 1.50 per poppet (for fabric only.) that seems like a good deal to me! I'll have to look for some at wally world this week.
I just found out my aunt planned the 3 cousins b-days the day after the hubbys, Which is the 25th! That means I have 3 poppets to run out in2 weeks, plus hubby's present. I think I'm going to make 1/2 sized poppets to save time and make them assembly line style. This means I might be less active but once I'm back I will have 3 new poppets to show for it! One of which will be a centaur. Smiley
I like sharp noses too, and a bit of fray is ok. I can handle that! Smiley
