I just came across the poppet tonight and am so in love!  I MUST make one for myself and my kiddos!!!

I think these poppet dolls are sooo cute and I would LOVE to make one, but...my sewing skills aren't so great-how difficult is it to make one? I would hate to bug you for a pattern and not be able to do it!

I found the poppet pattern to be very easy to work with and I consider myself to be on an intermediate sewing level.  And, the poppet was my first doll.  It took me about a week, but I only worked on it maybe 1-2 hours a night.  You will learn alot just by making this doll, so I say go for it!!

Ok now that I got THAT outta my system I can calmly say that now that I have joined I drove 45 minutes to Jo-Anns and bought Alova suede in 5 (yes 5) different colors...And I have a suprise that I think I might just do for my Poppet...... I am so excited I am squealing!

FYI!!! Right now Jo-Anns is having a fab sale on fabrics! All the Alova suedes are 50% off!!!!! Whooooo!!!!!

Stock up, because you won't see em till next fall.  Spring time dolly making always drives me crazy looking for fabric.

Visit http://ghilie.wordpress.com/ for the poppet pattern.

Oh Joy!
You should have seen my expression when I thought my poppet- making chances were gone. My boyfriend saw it and immediately declared I needed a hug.
You have no idea how unbelievably in I am.

I second... maybe third the queries of good fabrics to make pretty poppets out of. Grin

Thought I'd encourage enabling.  Smiley

The above is the weekly link to hobby lobby.  I plan on printing out a few of those coupons and going in and buying each item on the doll list at 40% off.  Smiley

Another source for alova suedecloth is Walmart - I bought my suedecloth there last year and the stuff holds up WELL!!  I used it as inners for my diapers for my kids, so you know it gets heavy usage and  it still looks brand new a year or so later!

I am especially glad I bought a 'tan' ish color (I bought several yards at the time) as that's what my baby boy poppets will be made out of.

The boys had a rough night last night so I didn't get any 'me' time.  Hoping sometime this weekend to get the pieces cut out!  Smiley

As you can see by my join date I am new here. I just couldn't resist the pull of the poppet. I'm looking forward to getting this super cute pattern.
