Did she wash well? I've not tried washing one before.

She washed fairly well.  I hadn't made her wig or attached the eyelids, yet.  The flannel got very pilly and linty, but I got out a new razor and literally shaved her from head to toe and that fixed that problem.  The most trouble was aggravated by my own sewing.  I don't allow enough seam allowance (which I'm working on - I hand sew and don't realize how narrow I leave things) and it let some seams tear.  Mostly along her neck (which I had to restuff because it got floppy and took the time to reinforce with a chopped bit of a wooden skewer) and down the back of one leg.  Better seams and machine sewing (and not so frayable flannel) and I think she would have washed very well.

On a related note: I got to do my own in-person Poppet Along yesterday!   Grin  I went to a friend's with my doll-making supplies (which I've amassed a TON of in the couple months I've been making dolls) and taught her how to make a Poppet (talk about the blind leading the blind, lol...  I made her make a Cupcake by herself the day before for practice).  There will be pics of that little Siamese kitty when she's ready!

"Lhiannan" what a beautiful Poppet, I love her hair, glad she made it through the wash. I've never wash a Poppet but I use to put my Raggedy Ann dolls in a pillow case & tied it shut then wash it, it helps so the hair doesn't tangle so much & protects it a little. Just a thought! I also put wooden skewer in my dolls neck too! Sounds like you had a lot of fun at the Poppet Along, good for you. Isn't it fun?
I can't wait to see what she'll look like when your're all done with her!

Sharalee, I put her in a big t-shirt and tied up the neck and bottom.  I think that's what hurt her neck; the two knots tangled and made the doll curve to the side.  If I'd put her in without protection, her arms and legs would probably have ripped off  Shocked.  They're on tight, but not that tight Cheesy  One day, I may try out actual doll joints.  The things my dolls go though BEFORE completion is rough, let alone after (I have 3 boys, the oldest is only 6)...

A peep at the Siamese Poppet.  I've begun working on her outfit, which has been requested to be 'gothy'.  She's made from this soft white fabric that I picked up at a discount fabric store.  I have no idea what it is, and they only had a little over a yard of the white.  Her ears are brown alova and purple fabric from that same discount store (50 cents for a fat quarter!).  I want to make a giant version of her and hug her all day, she's so cuddly!
