that fabric is adorable. And yes Pinking shears and fray check are your best friends. Also leave extra room around the seems  and that will help too.

How fun is that!

I need to get back on the poppet train, lol, I've got some deep green a.suede that wants to be a poppet, but hasn't found what kind or inspiration it wants yet.

Woodland elf? Poison Ivy? Lizard? Cheesy

He he, thanks for the ideas ^_^
Punkin is cute! I love the simplicity of the feet...as they always seem to be my downfall.

I saw some of the fabric like your saying meleriffic.  the other day at Hancock fabrics (my last one in the area!!!*grabs and holds on tight* It looked just like Alova...but then I spotted the edge -_- They were out of any colors I wanted to make a poppet out of in the only other fabric I found like alova.

I'm in the process of reading the entire thread and somewhere in the middle I think it said that butter suede was good material for making a poppet. Is that right?

buttersuede, i think, is hancock's version of alova.  it's really soft.  as long as it doesn't fray on the cut edge, it should do well.
