I usually make the fingers and toes with matching thread but have it doubled over twice. do you have 4 strands of thread in the needle I find it easier to use the thread I sewed the poppet with cause it already matches. I dont usually have any brakeage problems with that many strands either. I also put the eyelids on after and put them slightly larger than the eye it looks like a lid or eye make up to me but it is all personal preferance. I have not used eyelashes on a poppet yet, and I give most of mine mouths. So try for yourself and see what you like best.

I always use the same type of fabric on the eyes that I use for the skin, I don't really like to use felt because I always get some type of pilling. I use powder or dye to tint in the eyeshadow. I always put the lid on first, because if I mess up I can always remove the eye/adjust placement. Once you glue you may have to make a new head if you aren't happy with the result. Another thing you can do for spectacular eyes is get some clear ones and paint them yourself.

I feel the same way Seraphina. I don't care to use felt as I get the yucky look too. I like the look of the lids glued around back. I have added felt behind the eye for an eye liner look before. That is sort of fun. Only for a doll that isn't played with. I paint all of my own eyes and have included my steps for doing that in the tute I'm working on for the inset eyes.

I'm going to work on finishing the eye tute today in between baking my MIL's birthday cake! I would love to have it up sometime tonight, but we'll see.

Yay! I jointed my poppet today. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be...although I may eventually go back and redo her legs...but for now I'm just going to enjoy the accomplishment, lol. Next to study how to do the hair!

(Forgive my very messy work area in the background there, lol.)

Off to check out AlwaysInspired's eye tute now!

Wow, great job! Is that felt? Felt is a pain for turning Undecided Of course the felt doll I recently made was a modified poppet with a larger nose, slimmer face and head, and small, slim body...ridiculous for felt!
