Yay! I finally got my yellow ball dress back from my sister (who has been borrowing it for a very long time!), so thought I'd share. I made it a few years ago for my 7th form ball, and it's my absolute favouritest dress in the world! I used a Retro Simplicity pattern for the whole dress, but skipped out making the crinolines - the outer skirt was poofy enough. The rose is held on with safety pins, and is going a bit droopy now...  Wink

It's a little brighter than in this pic, and it's a bit hard to tell, but the skirt is yellow with these tiny white polka-dots all over it.

Here's what it looks like on (excuse the graininess of my camera):

I also made this headpiece, which is a bunch of flowers sewn onto a headband, with hat netting (I originally wanted a pill-box hat but couldn't figure them out, so made this instead):

And here's a pic from the ball with me in the whole ensemble (I'm on the left):

Poohs.... now I just need to find more excuses to wear it...  Wink

What a gorgeous dress! I'm a fan of old dresses and old styles - they suit my body so much better.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone!  Cheesy

It wasn't really that hard to make, and probably only took me a few nights to sew (although the cutting out took ages!). What took the most time was probably gathering the skirt - there was just so much of it! But then I took a couple of shortcuts with the hem, and instead of actually hemming it, I just overlocked the edge and left it like that.

Actually, that's the first time I've heard that! But now that you mention it, it really does remind me of her dress!!  Cheesy
Though I did get told once I looked like a big beautiful pineapple, (what they said to Frenchie on Grease).. heehee
