My younger son will be two in December. He loves R2D2, whom he calls "R2 2D." Close enough.   Smiley

The costume is white fleece with colored fleece and sewn details. The arms attach to the shoulder with a tab of Velcro, and then some elastic (held together with a toggle) keeps the arm attached around his forearm. We live in Minnesota, so it has to be wearable for a variety of weather -- either over a T-shirt or over a snowsuit.

The hat is some stretchy silver material that wasn't as hard to sew as I thought it was going to be. (Phew!) But by the time I got to the hat, I was sort of done. So all the details are just hot-glued on. (Sort of humiliating, but a person can't stay up drinking wine and making costumes all night long ... at some point, she hast to sleep. Right ...?)

Thanks for looking!

So cool & cute! I love it! I like how practical it is, it looks pretty comfortable too, which is very useful for a little one or they just end up taking it off.

Thank you so much, everyone! I'm just hoping it stays clean until Halloween, because he likes to wear it around the house. A lot. I was cleaning red Jell-O out of it this weekend.  Smiley

Nothing humiliating about that! You gotta take shortcuts when you can or you'll burn yourself out. Great costume, he looks adorable! And if you'd told me the hat was sewn, I wouldn't have known the difference.  Wink

I love home made!  I live in Minnesota as well and am looking to make an R2D2 costume for my 18 month old to compliment his big brother's C3P0 costume.  Did you have a pattern?  Would you be able to share any tips/suggestions?

Thanks! Smiley

That is pretty much the epitome of cuteness!  It looks pretty comfy too, maybe I should make one for myself...

That is so cool!  I was R2D2 for halloween when I was 8 or 9 (My brother and sister were Luke and Lea that year).  My mom made me a light-up paper mach hat and though I thought my costume was pretty cool, I couldn't sit down in it.  This is ADORABLE and seems really comfy too.  You did an awesome job!

This is one of the cutest kids costumes I've seen on the web for R2.  It's not super invasive to the child, and it looks fantastic.  Great job!
