I'm planning the same thing this xmas, and I'm hoping to do a little, round disc that is baby's hand/footprint in some kind of air-dry clay material, hung up by a red/green ribbon.

You might have to rope one of the parents into the plan, though, in order to steal baby and his/her appendages to make the impression in the clay.

- Baby's sock turned into mini-stocking. Apply some small bells and mistletoe.

- Felted ornament

- Mini Teddy-bear decorated with bells and glimmer

- little decorated frame with picture of the baby

I was thinking of using the floating ornament idea posted before http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=208966.0

One of my friends just had her baby in the beginning of the month and since I've only been able to see pictures, I figured that would be a cute gift.

This was my idea, too.  Smiley  In fact, I should make some of these for a couple friends that had babies this year.
