Hello! this is my first post after a long time spying from the shadows.
I had this weird dress thing from walmart that just fit ugly on me. The waist is low and not too flattering at all

this wasn't exactly an amazing transformation but now i like it and can wear it!

thanks for looking Wink

I have that same dress (different colors) and it fits me weird too. I've never been able to wear it, but I didn't want to just toss it-this is a great way to make it wearable again!

How funny, I think I have the Target version of the same dress.

I like mine so much that I want to use it as a template to make dress recons.

That said, I love what you did with yours.

It could be that the two dresses are structured differently or it could just be my long waist. Anyhow, it is all about making it work, no?

Great job. I am curious, did your dress have a stretch lining in the waist band and, if so, did you transfer it up when you made the top?

no, there wasn't any stretch to the waist. And i like the look of your dress better than what mine looked like, it looks like yours has a wider waist band, much cuter. i would def make copies of it  Smiley

Ah, the dress I have does have a wider waist band -- with a stretch lining-- so that and it looks like a longer skirt are the differences. I need to learn how to work with the stretch lining. It does such lovely things to the hang of jersey knit.
