Antique Stitch Lace Scarf

It's been awhile... I've been good with Ravelry but not my dear Craftster!  This scarf is from Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 2005.  Once you realize what you're doing, the pattern isn't hard-- easily memorized.  But the first couple rows can be confusing.  The pattern called for two skeins of Blue Sky Alpaca Silk, but I stopped at one-- it was long enough.  Blocking was very easy.  And it's soft as a baby's butt!

i must make one. except all i know how to do are the knit and purl stitches...is this much harder?

i can't imagine using two skeins for that scarf. it would be humoungously long.

that is just gorgeous. I love the way the stitch creates texture and openwork/negative space.

Once you figure out what you're doing, it's not that hard.  THe additional steps are to wrap the yarn around and slip stitches, which isn't too bad.  If you decide to cast on, you can always PM you and I'll help you through it.  The first repeat was the hardest for me.

Great work!  I've knit a scarf in that stitch before for a gift.  It looks tricker than it actually is.  The receiver was suitably impressed!
