Put this together for a birthday gift. My neighbor's daughter was kind enough to model for a picture before I wrapped it up and gave it away.

That's so pretty did you use a pattern? If so do you have the link? I love the colors you used.

There will always be people who say mean words  because you are different, and sometimes their minds cannot be changed. There are many more people who do not judge others based on how they look or where they are from. THOSE are the people whose WORDS truly matter.

No, I didn't use a pattern. I estimated the size I wanted it to be from a girl's poncho pattern in a book.
Roughly:
Yarn: Lion Brand Homespun (pink, Im not certain what the name is)
Hook: L
Chain 57, join with sl st to form circle.
Round 1: Ch 3, sk first ch, sl st in next ch, *ch 3, sk next ch, sl st in following ch* until back at beginning, (28 ch 3 spaces), ch 3, sc in first ch-3 sp.
Rounds 2 8: *ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp*.
Rounds 9 12: same as round 2, but work in 2 extra ch-3 sp each round ( ex: ch3, sc in ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc in same ch-3 sp).
Rounds 13-14: Same as round 2. Finish off.

Yarn: Caron Sayelle, taupe (not my favorite yarn, but I liked the color)
Hook: I
At neck:
Round 1: Join taupe with sc in any ch-1 sp, *sk sl st, 3 hdc in next ch-1 sp*, until back to first ch-1 sp, 2 hdc in first ch-1 sp, join with sl st.
Round 2: Ch 3, sk next hdc, *dc in next two sts, sk next hdc*, until back at beg, dc next to beg ch, join with sl st.
Round 3: Ch 3, *dc 2 tog, dc* until beg ch 3, join with sl st.
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in each dc, join with sl st to beg ch 2, finish off.

At bottom:
Round 1: Join taupe with sc in any ch-3 sp, sk next sc, *5 hdc in next ch-3 sp, sk sc* until first ch-3 sp, 4 hdc in beg ch-3 sp, join with sl st to beg sc.
Round 2: Ch 3, sk next hdc, *hdc in next 2 sts, ch 1, sk next st,* until end of round, hdc next to beg ch 3, join with sl st. Finish off.

Final round: Join homespun with sc in any ch-1 sp, ch 3, *sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3* until end of round, join with sl st to beg sc. Finish off.

And it feels lots better after its been washed once, so much softer.
