I've been swatching for the Textured Tunic from Fitted Knits, and have somehow managed to get fewer stitches to the inch when using 6mm needles (13 stitches) than when using 6.5mm's (14 stitches). Surely this defies some basic law of knitting, if not physics? 13 stitches per inch is the tension I'm meant to be aiming for, but can I trust my quirky swatch? Anyone ever had this happen to them?

Stitches per 1 inch, or sts per 4 inches? Either way, I would do more swatching and make sure you're measuring right.

Are the needles made of different stuff? I've hit a smaller gauge using 4.5mm aluminium add turbos than using 4mm plastic circulars before.

Oooops, you're right, I meant 13 st/ 4" ! My brain was obviously having a day off. The swatches are quite large, and the needles are made of the same stuff by the same manufacturer, so it's all still a bit of a mystery to me.
