To those wondering about the shiny, I myself use DecoArt Duraclear Varnish.  Two or more layers depending on the shinyness you want.

Cute!  How did you  make them shiny?  Polyurethane?  Mod Podge?

for these i used sculpey glaze. i have used poly-in-a-can for bigger items, it worked fine too, just took a longer to dry.
