My daughter in her costume! dont mind all the stuffin the background!
I used McCall's 4887. made the wings with wire and pantyhose, then painted them. i still need to secure the wings on to her back better....

I am pretty sure it just doesn't get any cuter than that!  I am wracking my brains trying to figure out who I could make that for.  (I'm pretty my grandsons would say no thanks Wink)

And lovely work BTW.  It looks absolutely perfect.  Is that two layers of different colored tulle in the front?  I love the look of that.  Was that part simple?

I do have a "step-granddaughter" who I'm not around enough to really make her Halloween costume, but I do usually make her a holiday dress.  Two layers of tulle like that could be adapted to some sort of underskirt, I think.  That would be cute.

It's not that I don't want to swap, it's that I often don't have time.  But feel free to ask (especially if it's one that's not too time consuming).

its like 3-4 layers of each color it was not hard at all. well cutting it was kinda hard, becuse the bottom isnt straight, but sewing it wasn't bad.

i think the pattern called for 3 1/2 yards of one color and 1/2 of the other.

Could you please post a close-up of the wings?  I'm about to make some for my kid and I'm intrigued by your technique.  What kind of spray bottle?  Like a windex bottle?  Thanks!

I used that pattern for my dd last year.  However, I procrastinated too long and ended up running out for store bought wings 10 minutes before our church party, LOL!

Yours looks amazing!

OK wings
I bent the wire, pulled the knee highs over each wing section and knotted them.

to paint. i mixed my paint in water and used a cheap spray bottle, like the ones you get where the hair stuff is...

I put a peice of card board where i wanted the green to be, and sprayed the blue, then i went over the edges with a foam paint brush and a litle undiluted paint.

then i covered the blue with some fleece scraps and sprayed the green, using the foam brush to make the spots .

then i hung them by the  nylon ends that i hadnt cut yet so the paint ran a little but i liked the effect so i didnt fix them.
