Turtle Onesie! Now with more pictures!

My boss and his wife are having a babyyy!

The idea behind the turtle is something of an inside joke and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out:

three things: I haven't sewn on the heart button yet, he's missing an eye, and I haven't washed this one to see how it will hold up (I'm nervous!!) ... My plan is to make 3 more to go with this set, but rotating the various prints. What do you think?

I finally ran these through the wash test...and they passed! If I were to do these over, though, I would do a thicker stich around the applique (hand sewing, as it turns out, is not my forte...)

I love turtles! I love your idea! im not sure about the transfer paper, but that you could do is get that iron on tape stuff put it on the back of the image, then sew around it like you did and it will hold up EXCELLENT

Adorable!  I dont know why turtles arent more popular baby themed motifs!  Bunnies and Duckies are all well and good, but turtles are just so... round!

That's basically how I finished this one...the iron transfer paper comes in a roll and turned my little turtle into something patch like (I'm reliving my days as a girl scout...remember ironing those patches to the ugly brown sashes??) Hopefully this works as well as the tape!! Wish me luck!

PS: Has anyone had experience with iron on transfer paper? It was the best no sew solution I could find and I'd love to hear some opinions...

I love the applique.
However, if you don't sew the edges, even with fusible web, you should expect some fraying of the turtle edges.

I freehanded the different pieces on to cardboard and used it as a template...the fabric was a lucky find! I try to branch out on my color choices, buuut I just love orange and turquoise Thanks for the comments!

UPDATTEE: These just went out in the mail today, I hope to hear from the papa to be soon!

Those are really really really cute turtles. No reason I can see to stop witht the orange and turq! These are sweet, and I love that there is a wee joke "stitched in" so to speak
