I know I'm not the most original by making a record planter, but I made one anyway for my DJ friend. He'll think it's original.

yes, I followed the same tutorial. I figured a planter would be a good idea because there is already a drainage hole in the bottom. I found the little chinese figurines for 50 cents at a greenhouse going out of business.

I love this!  I want to have plants all over the place, but I have 2 problems:

1.  I don't like "normal" planters.  They're always so plain.  You solved that problem!!
2.  I kill most plants I touch.  Seeds I plant don't even bother to grow, I think they're afraid of me!!

It sounds like the perfect plants for you would be succulents. Succulents retain their own water so you don't have to remember to water them all the time. This means they won't die at the touch of your finger. The one in that picture is a jade plant and those are really easy to take care of. You could also go the cactus route if you want.

Copy away, I didn't think it up myself. These planters look good everywhere. My dad is a doctor and when he saw me making these he had me make two for his fancy waiting room in his office. They actually look pretty cool there. I don't care much for cactuses (cacti? lol). They just sorta sit there. They look so sad. Ferns are my favorite but they are pretty fickel.

Oh trust me, if it's any shade of green and thrives in dirt, I can (and will) kill it.

Maybe I'll try anyway...

i love it ,and i have a question. Does the dirt stay packed in the bowl pretty well? I mean, i'm just kinda afraid it'd fall out the hole at the bottom...or would you just have the plant bowl on top of something else at all times to keep dirt from falling out?
