Here are my not-as-awesome-but-I'm-still-trying animal sketches.
These range from close to a year ago... to ... um.. couple weeks ago.

This is the last thing I've drawn in like... almost a month.  That wasn't idea doodles or something for class.  My time's being refocused into sewing for the time being.

I think you are doing a great job on some of these - you can tell that you like bears and cats, as they are by far the best of this lot! 

but the people protraits in the other thread are definitely your strong suit by far

yeah, they definitely are, but i just love animals so much more than people, hahah, its so upsetting.  just gotta practice more!

You are very good.  All I can draw - and just about at that - are human body parts (I study biology).  Your kitten looks so real I could reach out and touch it.  Excellent work and I'm very impressed with your talent - wish I could draw more but I guess that would mean applying myself which I can do  .

getmehaha,  the only animal i've drawn live was my cat, & i've been drawing her since i was like... 12, hahah.  everything else is from my animal books/national geographics.

vintageburlesque,  it's definitely worth the hardwork!  i didn't stop drawing anytime i had freetime over the summer, & it paid off.   i just took out lots of books from the library, & replaced my tv & internet habits with drawing & painting habits instead.  much more productive, haha

I think that animals are definitely different than people, in both the structure of the body and the head, but if you do baby animals you will be able to draw on your portrait skills more and that may help you to develop and expand your skills

many baby animals have more of an anthropomorphic look to their faces than adult animals, it has been theorized that humans actually never leave the "baby" phase of development as far as physical traits of faces go, so we are perpetually stuck with "baby" faces

don't know if I explained that well at all or not - it is a genetics thing
