Here's my Halloween costume for this year.  Using Simplicity 3618 I made the cape, shirt* and skirt/petticoat*.  I modified the included vest pattern into a "corset".  The red fabric is actually some pretty nice stuff kind of satiny, but without the sheen. It was unmarked and on sale for $2/yard which is great, because it took about 4 yards.  The eyelet lace on the shirt I got for 25 cents/yard I used about 7 yards.  The corset is black croc-embossed vinyl that I had around and the shirt is bleached muslin that I also had in my stash.  The basket is a kids Easter purse-thing that I found at the Goodwill Outlet (with the original tag still on it) for way less than a dollar.  I pulled the flower designs off the sides, glued on the gingham onto which I had already sewn the lace.  Theres a drawstring of elastic in the gingham so I can safely carry my wallet, lipstick and camera   I had the stockings and bought the shoes (theres a long, sad story about how the perfect shoes got away).  Angry

*Just slightly modified the pattern

I only wish I had the time to find some spooky old woods for the photos!

Great costume and I love your shoes  Cheesy.  Is your partner/hubby going as the wolf per chance?  Grin.

Thanks!  The shoes are actually Jessica Simpson brand from DSW's discount room.  I like fine, but they aren't as good as the platform ones that got away (and would have been super cheap, too).

Alas the manflesh is going to be neither the Big Bad Wolf or The Woodsman and is actually going as Ziggy Stardust.  I made his costume too, and will post it when I get some action shots of it all together.  I hope a wolf shows up at the party so I can get some pictures!

Thanks!  I had lost my enthusiasm for my own costume while working on the manflesh's, but since I put it all on today I'm all excited again!

Golly, thanks!  It's all about the real corset under the fake one.  Or at least a long-line bra with boning in it.  Wink  You look pretty sexy in your peacock costume, don't see yourself short.
