I made this for my husband's b-day.  He was complaining how he couldn't do anything to his hair because of his job so thought this would be a nice stand-in. Smiley

I was originally going to make the hat as written in the Pretty in Punk book but knew he wouldn't like the earflaps. The pattern also had it worked in two halves then seamed, I'm assuming to facilitate the fringe placement but I wasn't really digging the extra finishing idea. I also didn't want to use wool for the base since we're in Texas, and therefore it would need to be altered for that as well since it wouldn't be shrinking. So I ended up using top down, any gauge no swatch hat pattern and it worked perfect. The fringe is Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky which really felts perfectly for this type of thing.

That looks cool. By the way, what does your husband do that he couldn't do anything to his hair, if you don't mind my asking?

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
For diamonds do appear to be
Just like broken glass to me.

Sorry- I should've provided a link.  The original pattern is available in the book Pretty in Punk -
Amazon link

However I didn't use the hat part of the pattern at all.  It's just a top-down beanie finished in a few rows of garter stitch.  It's from a pattern I got at a workshop and not available online as far as I can tell.
