My baby Aaron is now 9 months old, and I finally finished his quilt! This is what happens when four of your friends decide to have babies at the same time as you do: their quilts get finished and your own child's doesn't. But with winter on its way I thought it might be nice for him to be able to start snuggling with his own quilt instead of one of his brother's. Plus his cousin, who has the matching quilt I finished last spring was coming to visit, and I wanted to get a photo of the two quilts together, so I had to finish Aaron's while they were visiting.
It is flannel, and essentially quilted around the blocks and the pinwheels and corner squares. In real life it looks great because it helps the pinwheels to pop out a bit more. I'm really happy with the results, and I love the backing fabric, which is a baby blue with yellow, green and white polka dots. I don't know that I would do a double pinwheel block for a baby quilt again, though, because its not a super fast block and a half-square pinwheel would do the trick just as nicely, I think. If you look close, the pinwheels are really unevenly sized, but that is what happens when you sew blocks with a toddler, a newborn or a toddler and newborn sitting on your lap while you sew.
Anyway, enough of my chit chat. Here's the photos:
always good to know your quilt is cat tested:
this one's a bit blurry, but shows the backing fabric and quilting
here it is with the matching one for his cousing, Kaylee
and finally here is the little man himself testing it out
HOpe you like it. All comments/criticisms welcome
