I have had a fat quarter of this fabric lying around forever and I was scared to cut it up  Cheesy. But, today I decided it needed to be a bag with bamboo handles. Sadly, all I had were plastic bamboo handles, but they'll do for now.  I used really stiff interfacing so it will stand on it's own too.  Smiley

They laugh at me because I'm different.
I pity them because they're all the same.

I love love love that fabric!!!  What pattern is that for the purse....or is it your own pattern?  Does it really just take one fat quarter to make a bag that size?

thanks everyone!  Grin

twright, I used (mostly) a pattern from a book I have called Bag Boutique by Amy Barickman. I modified the "flare bag" pattern. My finished size is 12x8x3.5. You can achieve the same basic idea by using jordy's awesome tutorial here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32204.0. Instead of making perfect rectangles, make them a tiny bit triangle shaped (smaller end for the top of the bag).

And yep, it only took one fat quarter for the outside. I used some plain black from my stash for the liner. It was a tight squeeze though - I had no scraps left whatsoever. I eeked out the tabs for the handles just barely.  The fabric is by Robert Kaufman called Chopsticks Please.
