I had a lot of free time this summer and made this little scene based on an animated music video that I really liked.

The video is "I Lived on the Moon" animated by Yannick Puig, the video's web page is http://www.yanim.net/ilotm/ilotm.htm and there's a link on that page to watch it, if you want.

I knitted the manta ray and then seamed it around a frame i made from from wire that I found in the craft store, I think it was intended for fake flower stems. The entire thing is stuffed, including his fins, so that he's soft all over and not wiry.

^that was him before I added the cutesy white dots to his eyes and got rid of that sad attempt at a mouth.

The little guy has knitted hair (except for two strands), and I'm not sure if it was more or less of a pain than the stranded hair that I did for my friend's doll. It was a long and random process knitting the little pieces and putting them all together to make his hair look right. The jacket was knit separately and sewn on. He's stuffed and cuddly.

The jellyfish were knit from grey yarn and their bodies are stuffed. The clouds were cut out from big sheets of grey paper and colored with white chalk and a pencil. All of it is hung from my ceiling with clear string, and I made up all the patterns myself.
Thanks for looking!

I am in love!  Your interpretation of the little boy is perfect.  Thanks for the link to the video.  It was surreal and inspiring.  Simply awesome.

If all our life is but a dream, fantastic posing greed
Then we should feed our jewelry to the sea
