These are my latest attempts at chain maille.  The gun metal my husband nabbed and the green I have claimed.  Hope you like them.

These are very nice!  Do you make your own jump rings?

Thanks.  Yes I do make my own jump rings.  I wrap the wire around a knitting needle with a cordless drill then cut them with wire cutters.  I am going to invest in a jewellery saw though as I'm using wire cutters and I'm not really happy with the cut that they make.

do you mind divulging how long these take to make?
also, idk if you weigh them, but how much (in oz.) does it take to make a bracelet?

my friends are all dying for maille!

thanks!

Thanks.  This byzantine weave actually works up really quickly.  Once the rings are made it probably only takes a couple of hours for me to make a bracelet length chain.  I'm pretty slow, i'm sure other people could make them faster.  As for weight I couldn't say but as an indication once the wire is wrapped around the mandrel (knitting needle in my case) ready to cut the rings, the length of the wrapped coil will equal the length of the chain you make with the cut rings.  Obviously the heavier guage wire you use the heavier the finished product.... that really wasn't very helpful was it  Huh  If that doesn't make sense let me know and I'll try and explain that a bit clearer.

haha thanks for replying..i worded it weird.

what I mean is :

how many rings [estimate] go into one bracelet?

also, what is the diameter of your rings?

That's amazing.  I'm not really a jewelery person, but I really like the gun metal one.
