The outer fabric is from a table runner I got for 2 bucks!
The linner (holy cow I actually did a liner in a purse) is leftover sheets I used to actually make a trial run on a dress ... see here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=203033.0

I love the ruffled effect, was it easy to put the two handles on i usually only do one but i want to do a bag for my sister who is a vet and thought two handles would be stronger. Also need to try and work out how many pockets to put into it, her other bag is overflowing.

the "ruffels" were on there already! I still have the other end that as ruffels too that I plan to make a smaller (shorter) one with.

As far as the two handles go it was super easy! I just sewed them onto the liner then when I sewed the liner into the purse it gave it a stronger hold!  This ones not wide at all but ts extremly deep for its size. I only put one large pocket in this one.

Isn't it fun to go into a discount store or find things on clearance you would never use for it's original purpose...& then alter it???

I have a great dollar store nearby that has all sorts of stuff like placemats & tablerunners, etc.   I ALMOST bought a red brocade tablerunner with tassels for the very same purpose as what you made, but didn't.  But might go back this next week because I saw your post.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Amazing!  I love this, and the price cannot be beat! Excellent job!

Do I smell a matching wallet or zipper pouch on the horizon? Beautiful job!

Wow that is really good.  The liner is impressive.  I have a silk evasion map for pilots shot down over the USSR during the 1950's.  Some day I want to dare use it as a liner for one of my messenger bags file pockets.
