Hope this goes here...

I found this shoe shelf idea on Not Martha (http://www.notmartha.org/archives/2007/06/12/my-new-shoe-rack/) and knew it would be perfect for our cramped entrance.

I love stuff like this!  It's perfect for people who can't stand clutter but tend to have a ton of crap  Cheesy   I should do something like this for my shoe boxes inside my bedroom closet.  I'm always finding neat ways to utilize weird spaces inside my tiny apartment.  Did you stain the wood yourself or already have it around?  Post a pic with all of your shoes on it!!  We need the visuals.

Here they are with some shoes.

I did stain them myself, but I didn't do a very good job.  This was around the middle of September, where it was rare to get a day warm enough for the stain to dry, so I was in a hurry.  Plus, my 9-month-old son was with me, and I had to stop every 2 minutes to carry him to a far corner of the yard so that he wouldn't stick his hand into the bucket of stain.  But it really doesn't matter since it's covered up with shoes all the time.   Smiley

The visual has arrived!

Yeah, it does look much better.  I've been going on a mini-organizational binge this weekend.  I am going to have to try this at the bottom of my closet for my shoe bins.  It makes sense to have shoes down low and not high considering it's something we use daily!
