Halloween Black Cat Cookies

I don't know where I found the recipe for these, but I make them every year for Halloween.  They're easy, fun, and delicious!

First, the pictures:




Then, the recipe:
1 c. crunchy peanut butter
2 eggs
1/3 c. water
1 package chocolate cake mix
M&Ms or Smarties
Red hots

Beat together p.b., eggs, & water.  Gradually add cake mix.  Mix well.  Form into 1-inch balls.  Place on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar. 

Pinch out 2 ears at top of cookies.  Add M&Ms/Smarties for eyes & redhots for nose.  [I cut the smarties in half and stuck the cut part into the cookie for the eyes; since redhots are hard to find when it isn't Valentine's Day, I used a quarter of a Smartie for each nose.]  Press fork into dough to form whiskers.  Use knife to carve out mouth.

Bake at 375°F for 8-10 minutes.

I keep forgetting that the Smarties in Canada are different from the ones in the US. Every time I think about them I think of when I worked for this credit card rewards place, and we were launching Capitol One Rewards in Canada. The reps for it came and handed out some canadian candy for us to try. I was always dying to try the smarties... I miss them  .

I had to eat a cookie for breakfast so I could decide.

I'd say they're more like cake, but not quite as moist.  They're fairly light & fluffy, with just a hint of peanut butter taste and a little crunch from the p.b. chunks.

Awesome Idea!  They really look like cats!  I think I will bake a batch to bring into work on Halloween!

I tried out your recipe, but only had marble cake mix. They were delicious and very fun to make! I tried not adding peanut butter at first, but it made the dough very goopy and unshapeable.
