I'm so happy I'm not the only one obsessed out there!  Not only was I stunned by the sets and costumes during the whole film but I literally gasped in the scene where Violet fell on the cliff. There's a perfect shot of the hems of her underskirts and it's all rows and rows of taffeta triangles in gorgeous colors... Colleen Atwood is a master!

Hey, has anyone actually gotten started on this yet? I haven't
I've been so swamped with school and shit. But after all the feed back i couldn't imagine no one else was gonna do it.  Anyways, i'll start soon, although no promises.  I tried to bug my mum into making it for me for  my bd, but that was a month ago and still nothing.  ::sob::  she hates me.

Has anyone here ever heard of The Smoke & Fire Company? They have a catalog that you can order by mail, and they also have a website; http://www.smoke-fire.com/. They have a great selesction of historically acurate patterns that span the 18th & 19th centuries. I've bought a few patterns from them. With a bit of modification you could make something similar to Violet's dress. Lately I've been making Victorian inspired men's clothing (waistcoats, frock coats etc.).
Also, Colleen Atwood also designed the clothing for Sleepy Hollow, which is a terrible film but worth checking out again to see the costumes.

i just wanna say if any1s in the FIDM area of LA, theres a costume exhibit featuring LOADS of costumes frm movies including violet's dress and count olafs costumes!! theres also some frm phantom of the opera, spiderman, aviator (saw th dress gwen stefani wore...it was to die for) lord of the rings, ray, troy, and so much more!!! it was INSANE!!
